Morten Hjalland joins Kanari from DNB

The data analysis company Kanari has appointed Morten Hjalland (52) as its new COO, further reinforcing its competence in the area of complex IT-operations. Before joining Kanari, Hjalland was SVP IT Operational Excellence at DNB, Norway’s largest banking and financial services group.

Morten Hjalland studied at the BI Norwegian Business School, and has more than 25 years of operational experience, as an employee of large enterprises and as a consultant.

“Kanari provides services to the owners of some of the Nordic region’s largest and most complex systems,” explains company CEO Philip Duns. “Over time, DNB has grown into one of the best companies in Norway for optimisation of the IT-based value chain. We are therefore extremely pleased to have gained Morten Hjalland as a new resource at Kanari. Not only will he help our largest clients, he will also be a great addition to Kanari’s executive management team.”

Kanari is a Nordic provider of Stability & Performance Analytics (SPA) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM). The company provides services to more than 400 enterprises in the Nordic region, and has employees in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

Morten Hjalland takes over as COO from Michael Breen, who now becomes CTO at Kanari. Hjalland worked at Evry and Atea before joining DNB. He has also previously held positions at Umoe IKT and Aftenposten.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to the service provider’s side. I have followed Kanari’s development for some time and know that it is a Nordic market leader in its field. Operational optimisation is something every company works on continuously. Being able to come in and analyse and advise companies on the next steps they should take in this effort is something I’m really looking forward to,” says Morten Hjalland.
